One photo shows the President John Mahama being helped to wear a helmet, while another shows him appearing to turn on the ignition of the bike.

A video posted on Facebook appeared to show President Mahama eventually riding the bike out of what is thought to be his private residence.

A government communicator said the ride had been for the president to assess the impact of the rain that fell on Sunday afternoon.It is not surprising that the president can ride a motor cycle, as he hails from Bole-Bamboi in the Northern Region.Motor cycles are a popular means of transportation in the northern regions of Ghana, and are owned by a lot of people, including women.
